Signs of life from the Haas in the free practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix, with Kevin Magnussen able to grab the coveted position of 'first of the others', finishing sixth less than a second behind leader Sebastian Vettel. Good performance also for Alfa Romeo, which saw Kimi Raikkonen finish eighth, with Antonio Giovinazzi thirteenth. The two Williams teams close again with Robert Kubica, the protagonist of an accident at the beginning of the PL2.

Alfa Romeo
Kimi Raikkonen (8th, 1’10.210): "It was a positive start to the weekend, despite the challenging conditions. It's nice to finish the day in the top 10, although it's only a matter of free practice. Certainly there is still work to be done on the set-up, but we will try to improve further and see where we are tomorrow. The qualifications will see tight detachments, as always happens here. The ride is quite short and even a single tenth can make the difference in many positions. You need to make a perfect turn to get a good result. We will see what conditions we find on Saturday, but we are confident of being in the fight".
Antonio Giovinazzi (13th, 1'10.419): "I think we can be satisfied with our work today. We had a challenging schedule and we managed to complete a few laps in the wet. This afternoon the times have been very close and it is a starter of what will happen in qualifying. We need to stay focused and extract 100% from each curve. Our goal as always is a place in Q3 and I am confident".

Haas
Kevin Magnussen (6th, 10.10.143): "I think we had a decent Friday, closed in sixth place with a low fuel load in the PL2. This is the best result of the year, at least from Munich onwards. Today it was really cold, and it won't be like this Sunday. The cold helps us a little, so it's a bit of a nuisance that conditions will improve. I therefore hope that they will remain clouds and cool, to help our performance. But we will take what will come. The ranking center is enclosed in half a second, I myself am sixth, but just four tenths from the sixteenth".
Romain Grosjean (16th, 1'10.504): "Kevin finished sixth at four tenths from me, but I'm sixteenth. We had a small problem in the PL2, which we have to solve ahead of Saturday. Hopefully the car can improve for tomorrow, the qualifying pace was still good, and so were the long runs. We expect much higher temperatures for Sunday and therefore the picture may change. We must work and not be surprised".

Williams
George Russell (19th, 11th 11,818): "It wasn't the best of days. We struggled on tire temperature. If we find the right tire usage window we will be able to get the lap times down. We hope to do this with warmer temperatures and more grip. We have work to do, we'll see what we can do for tomorrow".
Robert Kubica (s.t): "I was on my first lap, I lost the car between corner 2 and curve 3. At first I didn't understand what had happened, but then I realized that the Haas had left the track just before me and had brought a lot of water on the track. I was on a hard tire and ended up on the wall".
