A22 blocked due to a cable falling on the roadway. Also the railway closed – Cronaca

TRENTO. The Brenner motorway was closed in both directions between Bressanone and Vipiteno for safety reasons. The entrance to Bressanone in a northerly direction and the entrance to Vipiteno in a southerly direction are closed to traffic. "Given the current road conditions, we recommend avoiding non-urgent journeys" is the appeal launched by the Bolzano Central Traffic Office.

Traffic was blocked due to a medium-voltage cable from the nearby Brenner railway that fell on both sides of the road. At 9.41 am the workers of A22 reported the presence of a medium-voltage railway cable which causes significant risks to traffic which was immediately blocked.

Removal operations take time: the cable must be isolated and then cut by the railway technicians. The accident was caused by some trees that fell due to the weight of the snow, overwhelming a pylon from which the medium voltage cable came off. The Brenner railway line is also suspended.

Cars are run off by Autobrennero from the gates and new vehicles are not allowed into the section concerned.
