An 80 year old is missing from Thursday night, probably after having slipped late yesterday in the Salso river, a Licata, in the province of Agrigento, because of bad weather that hit the Sicily. The alarm was given by a person who, walking along the Federico II bridge, noticed slippers floating in the water. On the spot came the family members of the eighty-year-old, who were already looking for him and recognized the slippers. The searches are entrusted to the divers of the Fire fighters and al Speleological core.

The meteorological situation in the region triggered thered weather alert in eastern Sicily and yellow in the western one. The mayors of the municipalities of five provinces have ordered the school closure, starting from Catania, but also Syracuse, Known, Modica and Acicastello, Viagrande, Bronte, Acicatena, Palazzolo Acreide, Gela, Milazzo, in the Aeolian Islands, a Canicattì, Palma di Montechiaro and Naro. Institutes also closed a Enna, Leonforte and Troina.

The state Railways have issued a note informing you that based on the weather report issued by Civil protection for the heavy rains, from 5.00 on Friday until the normalization of the weather conditions the railway circulation on the Lentini-Caltagirone, Siracusa-Modica-Gela-Canicattì, Canicattì-Caltanissetta and Agrigento-Canicattì lines it is suspended. Moreover, due to the damage due to bad weather, the Palermo-Trapani line, interrupted by 7pm yesterday, will remain closed until 12am today.

A replacement service has been scheduled with buses in the stations of Agrigento, Castelvetrano, Catania, Messina, Palermo and Syracuse. The service will be activated subject to weather conditions. The Italian Railway Network technical teams, composed of over 60 employees, have been at work since last night to guard the lines affected by the interruption.
