New York (AWP / AFP) – Uber has split about 350 employees, the CEO said in a letter to employees released Monday by TechCrunch, a new wave of job cuts to keep costs down.
"Days like today are hard for all of us, and the management team and I will do everything in our power to make sure such a day does not happen again," writes the boss. Uber Dara Khosrowshahi.
In addition to its Uber Eats meal delivery service, autonomous car technology, marketing performance and recruitment services are also affected by these cuts.
According to TechCrunch, more than 70% of the jobs cut are located in Canada and the United States.
Uber had already cut 435 jobs in its engineering and product departments in September and 400 jobs in its marketing department in July to cut costs.
Since entering the New York Stock Exchange in early May, the company struggles to convince the financial markets that it can be profitable.
Its stock has tumbled more than 30% since its first stock market.
Uber's share, however, gained 4.33% Monday, around 18H10 GMT, shortly after the announcement of new job cuts.
