In view of the next Tokyo Salon, Japanese manufacturers are gradually unveiling their cards. This is the case of Toyota that yesterday revealed its novelty with regards to small-scale urban transport: the small car, called Ultra Compact BEV, it will have a range of just 100km and a maximum speed of 37 km / h. Aimed mainly at those who need a means of personal transport within built-up urban environments and more specifically to the elderly, this small and intelligent car will be proposed only on the Japanese domestic market.

On the sidelines of the revelation of the Ultra Compact BEV, Toyota also presented its new business model for the better to promote the mass adoption of electric cars. As part of this new strategy, Toyota has stated that it will examine carefully "Every phase of the battery life cycle, from production to sale, from resale or re-use to recycling, to maximize its value". Not here and now is not enough anymore

In the short term Toyota therefore plans to introduce a new battery leasing method, with which the units used may be exchanged with vehicles also used, used for spare parts or used as domestic or industrial accumulators as appropriate. In addition to this, the Japanese giant has said it wants to develop its own series of charging stations, and plans to launch an insurance program specific for electric cars.
