The United States House of Representatives has approved a resolution necessary to officially start the impeachment procedure against President Donald Trump. The hearings and investigations have already started for five weeks, but today's vote was needed – and had been asked by the Republicans – to formalize the start of the procedure and better define some details on how it will develop in the coming months. Today's vote was also the first opportunity to verify the support of the majority of deputies at the beginning of the procedure. The New York Times he spoke of the vote as a "historical moment that starts a new public phase of the proceedings", and wrote that "in practical terms, the resolution explains how the proceeding will take place from now on". The resolution was approved with 232 votes in favor and 196 against: all Republican deputies voted against, along with two Democratic Party deputies; the other Democrats have all voted in favor.
