Salento, an accident today on the state road between Brindisi and Lecce: a woman died

Fatal accident this morning along the highway 613 between Brindisi and Lecce where a car was squeezed between two trucks. Nothing to do for the driver of the car. Annamaria Dell'Anna, 58 years old, residing in San Cesario di Lecce and a professor in an institution in Brindisi, died due to the serious injuries sustained. The fatal impact near the junction for Trepuzzi and Surbo, around 7 am. The causes are all to be clarified, but according to a first hypothesis the crash could have occurred after an attempt to overtake.

On the spot, for immediate help, the fire brigade of the provincial command of Lecce. The firemen pulled the woman's body out from the vehicle sheets, a Citroen C3, to then entrust it to the operators of 118. Unfortunately, the efforts of the health professionals to save her life are useless. The impact was so violent as to crumple the cockpit in which the victim was trapped.

He was traveling in front of the destroyed car a boxed vehicle, of those used for the transport of building materials and renovation of roads. Behind, however, a truck used for the distribution of foodstuffs. The driver of this second vehicle was injured, fortunately not seriously. The former, however, remained unscathed but was nevertheless reached by health personnel because of a state of shock.

Queues along the state road and inconvenience for motorists, stopped due to the surveys in progress. Lecce police officers are carrying out inspections and managing the road network in collaboration with the local Surbo police, in a very busy artery point, to reconstruct the dynamics of the tragedy. The line of vehicles was diverted in the direction of Surbo, from where it will be possible to reach Brindisi through the coast road.
