After three rebound sessions, the CAC40 progressed tentatively this morning, + 0.10% to 5.525 points shortly before 9:30. But the trend seems fragile, without conviction or volume, since less than 200 ME changed hands, a low level at this stage. The publication of a good index in Germany at 8 o'clock somewhat supports the trend. In fact, German industrial production rebounded slightly in August, posting a 0.3% rise after a 0.3% decline the previous month. The consensus was for stability. Symbolically, we find a threshold of progression … Not neutral in the German context of pre-recession …

Investors continue to watch for official, unofficial statements, rumors, tweets … about the trade war, China-United States-European Union. It is also in a week, October 15, that a new round of screw must be spent on imported Chinese products whose customs duties will increase from 25 to 30%. The markets are asking if there is really anything to expect from the visit, on Thursday and Friday, of Chinese Vice Premier Liu He to Washington to participate in new negotiations planned, while Donald Trump has deemed it unlikely that significant progress is made quickly.

The US Department of Commerce announced on Monday the blacklisting of 28 public bodies or Chinese companies, including video surveillance company Hikvision, because of their participation in the repression of Uyghurs in the Chinese region of Xinjiang.

WALL STREET

After hesitating all day between green and red, the index Dow Jones ended down 0.36% at 26,478 points two hours before the close, while the broad index S & P 500 yielded 0.45% to 2.938 pts, and that the Nasdaq Composite, rich in technology and biotechnology values, dropped 0.33% to 7,956 pts.

Last week, the Dow Jones fell 0.9% and the S & P 500 fell 0.3%, these two indices now chained after 3 consecutive weeks of decline. The Nasdaq rose last week (+ 0.5%) after two weeks of decline.

ECO AND CURRENCIES

France's trade deficit was 5.02 billion euros in August, remaining relatively stable after its ebb in July, according to statistics CVS / CJO published Tuesday by Customs. The July deficit was slightly revised to 4.54 billion euros against 4.61 billion in first estimate.
