Swiss: flight resumption

Swiss has resumed the usual rhythm of its activities, after two days marked by disruptions on its flights. The company had nailed on Tuesday its A220 aircraft, also called C-Series, for inspection. A technical incident on a flight from London to Geneva was the trigger. Business has returned to normal, a spokesman told AWP on Thursday.

Swiss has reopened its fleet of 29 aircraft after an inspection on all aircraft. "The engines are in perfect condition," the company said before.

This is not the first time that a C-Series / A220 aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney reactors is affected by a technical incident. During a flight from London to Geneva, the plane this time had to land in emergency Tuesday in Paris following a reactor problem, according to information from several media.

In all, Swiss has canceled a hundred flights, affecting 10'000 passengers between Tuesday and Wednesday. The airline has indicated that affected passengers have been contacted and may be transferred to other flights at Swiss expense or reimbursed. If the company regretted the incident, it also stressed that safety remained the "top priority".

Designed by the Canadian Bombardier and since taken over by its European counterpart Airbus, these aircraft represent nearly half of the fleet ensuring the European flights of Swiss. These devices, which consume less energy and can carry more passengers, have replaced the old Jumbolinos since 2016.
