Stuck between bed and a piece of furniture: dies 6 months old baby

TORINO. Tragedy in an accommodation on the outskirts of Turin. A girl of only six months, Moroccan origins, died after being left with her head trapped between a piece of furniture and the mattress of the bed in which her grandmother had left her to go to the bathroom. The alarm to the 118, intervened in the housing with the carabinieri, was immediate, but the child died during transport to the hospital.
It happened tonight, in the popular Barriera district of Milan. The little one had been entrusted to her grandmother, 56, as at other times because her mother was abroad. The day had passed as always, between a meal and a bed, a ride to the park near home with the stroller and lots of cuddles. The call to
emergency number around 8pm. "Come, hurry." Hurry up, my niece is no longer breathing, "the words shouted by her grandmother on the phone. According to a first reconstruction of the carabinieri, the grandmother left the child on the bed and was absent for the time necessary to go to the bathroom. On his return he no longer breathed, his head stuck between a piece of furniture and the mattress. The rush to the Regina Margherita children's hospital was futile: the child died during transport, in an ambulance. The carabinieri of the Oltre Dora company, assisted by the Nucleus scientific survey of the provincial command of the weapon, carried out an accurate inspection inside the house. "I am desperate, I left her only a few moments," her grandmother told the military. The woman is now in danger of being reported for not having custody of a minor.
