Six qualified countries, three nations guaranteed to play the roadblocks: update on qualifications for Euro 2020

ATAt the end of the 8th qualifying round for Euro 2020, six nations have won their ticket for the final tournament, to be held from 12 June to 12 July in 12 countries on the continent. There are still 18 places to be filled, but only 14 via these playoffs. Indeed, the last four tickets will be awarded following dams. Small point on the race to qualify for the Euro 2020.

Qualified nations

The Belgium is the first country to get his ticket for the Euro after seven games. TheItaly followed suit two days later. The Russia, the Poland, theUkraine and theSpain added to this list of qualifiers after playing eight games. As a reminder, the first two group places are qualifying.

Virtual dam operators

Sixteen nations will play the barriers, divided into four groups of four. The jumpers are given priority over their status as a group winner in the Nations League, then comes their ranking in qualifying and finally, their ranking in Nations League to determine their group. Three nations, group winners and eliminated qualifications, are guaranteed to play the roadblocks: theScotland, the Georgia and the Belarus.

At present, the virtually barrage nations are: Switzerland, Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Wales, Slovakia, Northern Ireland, Norway, Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Israel and Romania.

The situation group by group

Group A

Ranking: England (15 pts), Czech Republic (12), Kosovo (11), Montenegro (3), Bulgaria (3)

England will qualify in the event of a draw against Montenegro, or if Kosovo loses against the Czech Republic. The second qualifying ticket will be played between the Czech Republic and Kosovo.

Group B

Ranking: Ukraine (19), Portugal (11), Serbia (10), Luxembourg (4), Lithuania (1)

Ukraine being qualified and winner of this group, the second place is played between Portugal and Serbia. CR7 and his teammates need a win against Lithuania, associated with a result other than a success for Serbia. The eliminated team will be guaranteed a second chance through the play-offs thanks to their status as a group winner in the Nations League.

Group C

Ranking: Netherlands (15), Germany (15), Northern Ireland (12), Belarus (4), Estonia (1)

The Netherlands will qualify in the event of a draw against Northern Ireland. The result of this meeting will be closely followed by Germany, which also has the opportunity to qualify by not bowing to Belarus.

Group D

Ranking: Republic of Ireland (12), Denmark (12), Switzerland (11), Georgia (8), Gibraltar (0)

Three countries remain in the race for the two qualifying places. Note that Denmark and Switzerland will, in case of elimination, be returned to dams.

Group E

Ranking: Croatia (14), Hungary (12), Slovakia (10), Wales (8), Azerbaijan (1)

Croatia can qualify if they win against Slovakia in their next match. Hungary and Slovakia are in a favorable tie, while Wales could be eliminated in case of defeat in Azerbaijan.

Group F

Ranking: Spain (20), Sweden (15), Romania (14), Norway (11), Faroe Islands (3), Malta (3)

Spain being qualified, three countries can still claim the last place in the game. Sweden is the best placed, a win against Romania ensures a qualification. In the worst case, it has a place in dams, just like Norway.

Group G

Ranking: Poland (19), Austria (16), North Macedonia (11), Slovenia (11), Israel (8), Latvia (0)

Austria only need a draw against North Macedonia to reach Poland in the final phase. North Macedonia will then run in the play-offs as a group winner in the Nations League.

Group H

Ranking: Turkey (19), France (19), Iceland (15), Albania (12), Andorra (3), Moldova (3)

A draw against Iceland is enough for Turkey to qualify. France must win the victory against Moldova, or hang the draw if Iceland does not win in its match.

Group I

Ranking: Belgium (24), Russia (21), Cyprus (10), Scotland (9), Kazakhstan (7), San Marino (0)

The situation is clear since Belgium and Russia are qualified. Their duel on November 16th will be crucial to determine the first of the group. The Devils only need a share to stay leader. Scotland will play the dams.

Group J

Ranking: Italy (24), Finland (15), Armenia (10), Bosnia and Herzegovina (10), Greece (8), Liechtenstein (2)

Finland is close to qualifying, several scenarios going in its direction. She can also be reassured because in case of elimination, the roadblocks are stretching her arms since she won her group in Nations League.
