AMSTERDAM – The Netherlands says no to racism. Fed up with the continuing episodes of discrimination (last of all the insults to the Excelsior player Ahmad Mendes Moreira, to whom the supporters of Den Bosch have addressed monkey sounds and a racist song), the Federation has decided that in the matches of the Eredivisie and Eerste weekend Divisie (our Serie A and B) will not be played the first minute.

The joy of Wijnaldum and De Jong

The decision wants to be a strong initiative to say enough to these unbearable episodes of racism, more and more frequent in the Netherlands. A few days ago, during the competition between the Netherlands and Estonia for the Euro 2020 qualifications, Wijnaldum and De Jong had rejoiced showing their arms to the cameras despite their different colors. Now the Federation has also decided to continue this campaign: nothing will happen in the first 60 seconds of the games.
