While the noise was running for several weeks, the Saint-Gobain group has confirmed its intention to sell "all or part" of the scope of its subsidiary Lapeyre to one or more "partners". The specialist brand of home improvement for professionals and individuals has lost money in recent years, and Saint-Gobain seems to give up its stimulus plan launched in 2016.

After several days of rumors, Saint-Gobain confirmed Monday, October 14 that the group was trying to sell some or all of the perimeter of its subsidiary Lapeyre to one or more " partners ".

A big do-it-yourself DIY area

Created in 1931 and bought by Saint-Gobain in 1996, the brand specializing in home improvement for professionals and individuals has been losing ground for several years against other DIY superstores like Castorama or Leroy -Merlin. After launching a recovery plan in 2016, Saint-Gobain finally seems to throw in the towel. It remains to be seen what will happen to the 4100 employees, 126 outlets and 11 factories.

" Our priority remains the recovery of Lapeyre and the durability of the activity. In this context, we analyze all options to meet this objective, including the association with potential partners, which could affect all or part of the perimeter of Lapeyre ", Says a spokesperson for the group.

" This research partnership is exploratory at this stage and no delay is not defined "She adds.

This announcement comes two weeks after the sale of its K by K window manufacturing network. Since last year, Saint-Gobain has been engaged in an "optimization" process for its portfolio. To date, its multiple sales of activities represent a turnover of more than 3.1 billion euros.
