In this field the technology it is fundamental: it was for example the case of smart sensors and optical fiber for dynamic weighing of trucks on the bridges after the drama of Genoa, and it is now also the case of the new traffic barrier in concrete National Dynamic Barrier Anas (NDBA) made precisely by Anas and recently subjected to a series of crash tests to verify its resistance to violent impacts. Well, its structure reinforced with a steel profile has successfully passed all the tests to which it has been subjected.
At the Certification and Behavioral Analysis Center in Bollate (MI), Anas launched a heavy vehicle of 38 tons at a speed of 65 km / h with an impact angle of 20 ° and a light vehicle (900 kg) at a speed of 100 km / h. Both bumps caused "small damages"both to the heavy vehicle and to the barrier: the latter has obtained the W2 value such as operating width, or how "maximum movement of the barrier in the event of an impact". Then one was executed second test – unique case in the sector – launching a another half of 38 tons against the same barrier, already "proven" – albeit partially – by the previous impacts.
Also in this second case the result was the same: W2, proof that the NDBA barrier "it is able to withstand two simultaneous or immediately subsequent incidental events". The merit goes to the composition of the barrier itself, whose modular elements are connected to each other by a steel profile that replaces the hinge constraint, thus allowing to obtain a more contained deformation.
The study and development of this barrier stems from Anas' need to continue the research and development process to complete the range of barriers, making them increasingly efficient and responsive to the needs of our road and motorway network. The objective is to increase the safety levels of the users, also reducing the costs of installation and maintenance of the infrastructure. The positive outcome of the crash test certifies that it is an innovative, unique product, which will make it possible to overcome the pre-existing technologies, with a strong commercial value on national and international markets.
The barrier will therefore guarantee a series of important advantages:
- it will be extremely safety, thanks to an operating width that will generally be between W2 and W5
- Sara technological: inside it will be installed cables and sensors connected to the Control Operating Rooms to detect damage and accidents, thus guaranteeing immediate assistance to people and restoration in minimum time
