Red weather alert: schools closed

Following the red weather alert bulletin issued by the Regional Civil Protection Department, the mayor of Catania, Salvo Pogliese, ordered, by ordinance, the closure of schools of all levels in the municipal area.

"Following the hydrogeological and hydraulic risk warning issued this afternoon by the regional civil protection, confirming the level of red alert and operational alarm for the weather-hydrogeological and hydraulic risk for eastern Sicily, the Mayor Salvo Pogliese, in agreement with the municipal councilor for civil protection Alessandro Porto, he signed the relative ordinance which provides, among other things, for the closure of school buildings of every order and grade for Saturday 26 October 2019 and the prohibition of potentially public areas at risk such as parks and public gardens, markets and cemeteries. The opening of the Fiera dei Morti in the former fruit and vegetable market of San Giuseppe La Rena is postponed to Sunday ".
