The art critic Philippe Daverio on TV had won Bobbio, of which he is an honorary citizen, against the Sicilian Palazzolo Acreide. And when Ismaele La Vardera went to ask for explanations, Daverio said he didn't love Sicily and was afraid to go back. Now the president of the Musumeci Region replies

"I don't like Sicily, I don't care about the arancina and the cannoli, I like the foie gras and I drink champagne ". The art critic Philippe Daverio does not touch it to the microphones of Ismaele La Vardera, who sought it after the controversy over the victory of Bobbio in the TV program "Il borgo dei borghi 2019" to ask him for explanations (as you can see in the service above). And he said: "Cannolo? I don't like it because it has a truncated cane … They scared me, the tone is threatening and is part of the Sicilian tradition … Io I'm afraid to go back to Sicily".

Nello Musumeci, president of the Sicilian region, has given Facebook its answer. "Professor Philippe Daverio he has the duty to apologize to all the Sicilian people, who he intentionally offended, with racist tones and slanderous statements. To love Sicily is not a duty, but to use them respect yes. It is not tolerable an attitude so snooty, which requires us as a government of the Sicilian Region to also turn to the judicial authority. This disarming prejudice towards Sicily it clearly explains the epilogue of the competition on Borgo dei Borghi, to the detriment of one of our Communities ”.

Musumeci, in addition to threatening legal action, turns to the same Rai management: "I hope that the public television service, if there are still professional relationships with this character, he immediately rescinds them. If then the excuses arrive, I will be the one to invite the French racist to our island: without cannoli with cut cane, don't worry, but with an abundant slice of cassata, accompanied by a small glass of raisin. And it's not a threat ".

The former president of the Sicilian regional assembly, Gianfranco Micciche, echoes this: "As a man of culture, I am sure he has no preconceived notions against us Sicilians, but some of his recent statements remain in bad taste – as if Do you compare a cannolo to a shotgun with a cut cane? a conflict of interest there was and in this regard it would probably have been appropriate not to participate in the vote or decline the invitation to be part of the jury. Professor Philippe Daverio, you are a cultured, intelligent and refined person; let loose the prejudices against us. Prejudices that until recently did not nourish. Come back to Sicily, come to visit Palazzo dei Normanni, it will be my welcome guest. I am sure he will be captivated by it. You can also find interesting Sicilian towns that have already won the nickname "Most beautiful village in Italy", such as Petralia Soprana, Gangi, Sambuca di Sicilia and Montalbano Elicona ". Rai3 also distances itself from Daverio's claims, which he defines "Intolerable jokes and allusions, in contrast to the spirit of the program in which Daverio collaborated".

In the service broadcast the last episode we told you about the incredible story of the TV contest "The borough of the boroughs 2019". To win the final of the contest, against the Sicilian Palazzolo Acreide, was the Piacenza Bobbio, a municipality that however just a year ago had appointed Philippe Daverio as honorary citizen.

The televoting had seen in the head Palazzolo Acreide, with 42% of preferences against 27% of Bobbio, but to overturn completely the outcome of the tender was the decisive vote of Daverio (who had given zero percent approval in Palazzolo Acreide).

The president of the RAI supervisory commission, Michele Anzaldi said that "the injured are the municipalities that found themselves in this mess and all of us who pay the rent in addition to the citizens who voted from home". A televoting among other things not for free, but that costs well 51 cents per message.

"It would be nice to know who this money goes to," Anzaldi added, who also announced a parliamentary question. "I hope you put an end to this ugly practice of the televoting which is not respected."

When Ismaele La Vardera went to Philippe Daverio, he went down very heavy: "The Sicilian is convinced he is at the center of the world, he is a local pathology that over the centuries it has never been possible to cure. It's called omphalitis, it's inflammation of the navel. For them all that is not Sicily is very far away, it is almost intolerable".
