Swiss pension funds recorded a positive performance in September. Rising yields led to negative bond yields, but other asset classes were able to grow.
On average, the caisses posted a performance of + 0.45%, according to UBS monthly report released Thursday. For the current year, the increase reached + 8.85%.
Small structures with assets below 300 million francs recorded the largest increase (+ 0.54%) during the month under review, followed by medium structures between 300 million and 1 billion (+ 0.37%) . Beyond one billion, the increase is 0.35%.
For the asset classes in the observed sample, equities performed best. World stocks led at 2.94%, followed by Swiss stocks (+ 1.67%). Swiss bonds experienced their worst month of the year (-1.57%).
Foreign currency bonds moved into the negative (-0.04%). Hedge funds, real estate and private equity were in the green with 0.34%, 0.39% and 0.69% respectively.
Since the beginning of the measures in January 2006, pension funds have achieved a cumulative performance of 54.4%
