On 8 October, the number of users of SwissID, a digital identification service, exceeded the one million mark. A step that his publisher, SwissSign Group, did not expect to reach before the end of the year. At the same time, the Swiss Information Technology Conference (CSI) has signed a statement of conditions with SwissSign to make SwissID available to the federal, cantonal, city and municipal administrations. This collaboration represents an important step towards "ensuring the progress of the digitization of the Swiss administration", explains SwissSign Group. The two signatory parties will collaborate in the field of delivery and purchase of SwissID and related services.
The ITUC is a national organization of the IT organizations of the Confederation, cantons, cities and municipalities as well as the Principality of Liechtenstein. Its aim is "to promote collaboration in the field of ICT as well as to support and accelerate the digitization of the services of its members". SwissID, a competitor of SuisseID and SwissPass, is a digital identification service developed by SwissSign Group, a joint venture created at the end of 2017, which includes La Poste, SBB, Swisscom, Credit Suisse, Banque Cantonale de Geneve, UBS and SIX. The solution can be used in particular on the online portals of La Poste, SBB, cantonal bank Saint-Welsh and the cantons of Jura, Zug and Graubunden. SwissSign Group estimates that its solution will probably have around 4 million users by 2022.
