The longest flight in the world, from New York to Sydney in 19 hours and 16 minutes, was completed by Qantas.

The Australian company had planned it to carry out a series of tests aimed at assessing the possible consequences of long-distance journeys on crew fatigue and passenger jetlag.

The examination plan was carried out, among other things, with the monitoring of the pilot's brainwaves and the levels of melatonin present in the passengers.

On board 49 people took place to reduce weight to a minimum and provide the necessary autonomy.

"Overall – said Sean Golding, the captain who drove the four pilots -, we are really happy with how the flight went and it is nice to have some data that we need to help evaluate the start of a regular service" for this route.
