Netflix will make it difficult to share accounts

This is not the first time that the famous platform evokes the hypothesis of complicating account sharing. A practice paradoxically contributing to the success of Netflixbut which is becoming more of a financial burden.

Netflix forced to react?

With the arrival in the coming weeks of Apple TV + and Disney +, that is to say two future major competitors, Netflix will probably be forced to harden the tone towards some of its subscribers. More exactly, those who have the habit of sharing their account with their friends and relatives. This practice, because it is widespread, now represents a significant loss of earnings for the service, which would like to discourage its loyal customers. When presenting his latest results, the firm mentioned its willingness to monitor the accounts that share the IDs. No sanction has yet been formalized, but it is easy to imagine the same Netflix apply a limit in IP able to access the same account. It must be said that the giant of the SVoD must react. For the first time since 2011, Netflix has indeed lost subscribers, and the arrival of competitors is not to arrange his business as she herself admitted: "The launch of these new services will be noisy. There may be a slight headwind on our growth, and we tried to take it into account in our orientation".

No shared accounts for Disney +

For its part, Disney + warned from the outset: it will not be possible to share his account. It is impossible to lend his password so that family and friends can access without paying the many programs announced on the platform. Announced on iOS, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Android, Android TV, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Roku, Disney + is expected in the United States from November 12, and a little later in France.
