Will this study put an end to the controversy? The National Frequency Agency (ANFR) published last October 9 the results of the public exposure measurements of radio waves Linky meters. Conclusion, no exceedance of the regulatory level of exposure to electromagnetic fields has been detected.
For almost seven months (from June to December 2018), the ANFR carried out a measurement campaign within the framework of national monitoring system for public exposure to electromagnetic waves in the band 9 kHz – 100 kHz. "
178 sites equipped with Linky meters have been tested by measurement laboratories accredited by the French Accreditation Committee (COFRAC), including private homes. These measurements were made at 20 cm from the meter in 64% of cases, and at 40 cm for the rest.
Absence of harmful effects
" All measurements concerned a Linky meter and took place indoors and mainly in urban areas ", Details the Agency in its report.
" The compliance of the level of exposure to electromagnetic fields in the band 9 kHz – 100 kHz with the decree n ° 2002-775 of May 3, 2002 was found on all the sites which were the object of a measure "Says the document again.
The exhibition therefore fully meets the standards guaranteeing the absence of harmful effects on users. In 100% of the cases studied by the National Frequency Agency, " compliance of the level of exposure to electromagnetic fields has been noted "Concludes the study.
Recurrent controversies
At a distance of 20 cm, electromagnetic field measurements are 25 to 37 times lower than the statutory limit values. As for the tests carried out at 40 cm from the meter, the values are even lower.
The Linky meter, of which Enedis is piloting the installation to remotely monitor live consumption, has been the subject of recurring controversy since its first deployment in 2015.
Twenty-two courts have been seized of joint actions. The vast majority of complainants, several hundred to date, have been dismissed (Rennes, Toulouse, Bordeaux), except a handful of "electrosensitive".
