The National Frequency Agency (ANFR) has reported the results of a study and states that no exceedance of the regulatory level of exposure to electromagnetic fields was noted during the measurements made in 2018.

While the Linky meter has been controversial from the beginning about its potential harmful health because of the waves, a study published Wednesday, October 9 would question the fight of those who refuse the installation of this device.

The National Frequency Agency (ANFR) has published the results of measurements of public exposure to the radio frequency waves of Linky meters. Based on the data in the report, no exceedance of the regulatory level of exposure to electromagnetic fields was noted.

No impact on health

The study would therefore proclaim that there would be no impact on health. Analyzes were carried out as part of the national system for monitoring public exposure to electromagnetic waves in the band 9 kHz – 100 kHz, transmitted by mobile phones, radio or television.

This device makes it possible to measure the exposure to electromagnetic waves free of charge both in residential premises and in places accessible to the public. Some 178 locations were measured in the 9 kHz – 100 kHz band between June 2018, when the device was opened for this type of measurement, and December 2018. All measurements related to a Linky meter and had place indoors and mainly in urban areas.

Compliance of the level of exposure to electromagnetic fields has been observed at all sites that have been measured. And in more than half of the cases (99 out of 178 cases), no Linky PLC transmission was detected according to the study to read in full.

Legal actions that have resulted

Since the start of the installation of these meters, numerous legal actions have been taken to prevent the implementation of the Linky meters. The Tours TGI has ordered the withdrawal of the counter from 13 individuals for medical reasons. The TGI of Bordeaux has ordered the installation of filters against electromagnetic fields on meters.
