The exterior transformation of the new Captur allows it to display modernized lines, more marked and more expressive, while respecting the sensual aspects of "French Design" dear to Renault.
Exposed on the sidelines of the Frankfurt Motor Show last September, the new Captur reinvents itself by reinforcing the DNA that made its success. Versatility remains the watchword for this vehicle since it is as comfortable in the city as on all types of roads for which the approval passes by a certain dynamism.
Forerunner in the urban SUV market, Captur has sold 1.5 million copies in more than 90 countries since its launch in 2013. It has quickly become the bestseller of its segment in Europe. In a market that has become extremely competitive, the new Captur is reinventing itself by reinforcing the DNA that made its success. It is transforming to display modernized SUV lines that are both athletic and dynamic.
This exterior transformation allows it to display modernized lines, more marked and more expressive, while respecting the sensual aspects of "French Design" dear to Renault. The new vehicle gains in length (4.23 m, or +11 cm) and evolves visually thanks to its wheels of 18 inches (according to the version) and its elongated wheelbase (2,63 m, +2 cm). Its reinvented design, the precision of its adjustments, but also its 100% LED lighting with C (C-Shape) light signature, both front and back, and its decorative chrome inserts fully contribute to the improvement of its quality.
The internal revolution initiated with the new Clio continues with the new Captur, which installs a real upgrade. It takes the "Smart Cockpit" slightly oriented towards the driver, embellishing it with an unprecedented floating console. Incorporating the latest technology and featuring the largest screens in the class, it features modern ergonomics for a more immersive driving experience. But it's not just the driving position that's revolutionary. The entire cabin changes size in terms of quality and comfort, showing itself worthy of the upper segments. High-end materials, soft coating for the dashboard, door panels and the outline of the center console, careful treatment of furniture elements, new seating architecture: the effects are felt at all levels.
Captur has always played the card of versatility, including in his road behavior. A reinforced bias with the new version, which maintains its reassuring posture on all types of road, while improving all the tangible points: steering, damping, chassis … It benefits from all the innovations of the new modular platform CMF- B developed by the Alliance and a specific focus. The new Captur offers both a high level of comfort for all its occupants while pushing the driving dynamics forward.
Comfort, agility and security
The new Captur uses the modular CMF-B platform inaugurated by the new Clio. It therefore enjoys a driving pleasure profile similar, although specific settings offer a personality of each of these models. Versatility remains the key word since the new Captur is as comfortable in town where gentleness must prevail on all types of roads for which the approval passes by a certain dynamism.
The engineering teams responsible for the development of the chassis have therefore neglected any parameter so that the new vehicle has a general balance that does not erase the feelings of agility and safety felt behind the wheel. Its reassuring handling is supported by a guide of the rear axle offering more stability in curves taken at high speed.
The new Captur goes upmarket also in terms of engines with an expanded portfolio and widely renewed in both gasoline and diesel. Combined with a 5 or 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, these engines cover a rising power range: from 100 to 155 hp in petrol and 95 to 115 hp in diesel. All latest generation, they are equipped with advanced technologies that meet the latest standards, with levels of consumption and emissions optimized.
The motor portfolio of the new Captur will be enriched from 2020 with a rechargeable hybrid engine called E-TECH Plug-in. A first in the Renault Group, but also a unique offer in its market. A successful model that addresses the greatest number, the new Captur will be a pioneer in the democratization of rechargeable hybrid technology for all.
With its 1.0 TCe and 1.3 TCe engines, as well as its E-TECH Plug-in engine, developed within the Alliance, the new Captur perfectly embodies the synergies that are at the heart of Renault Group's and its partners' strategy. .
Improved acoustic insulation
The use of the new CMF-B modular platform has also improved the acoustic insulation of the new Captur cabin. Specific work was carried out around many elements to reduce the noise annoyance experienced by passengers: reinforcement of the body structure, use of new insulation materials for the passenger compartment, reinforcement of the engine compartment insulation, complete refit underflooring improving floor insulation performance, applying new design rules for certain seals, windshield treatment with acoustic film, double door sealing system, etc. In the end, the noise level of the cabin is lowered by 2 dB between 0 and 130 km / h.
