Maneuver, carried out on two million company cars. Renters in alarm: take industry and penalize workers

The car industry rails against the corporate vehicle tax, which came up during the maneuver. "Affects 2 million" of machines and workers, Aniasa, the association of rental companies, thunders. But it is also a political controversy. Oppositions arise and tummy aches are felt within the majority. "It is not all the companies that are the biggest," says the pentastellato undersecretary of the economy, Alessio Villarosa. The fact is that the tightening on the so-called 'fringe benefit', as we learn, should yield 513 million.

Today the company car is included among the items of remuneration, but only 30% of its value is subject to taxation. A tax rebate that arises from an observation, explains Aniasa: «only tax the use unrelated to work. Assuming that the company car from Monday to Friday is available to the employee for the performance of his duties, what emerges for tax purposes would be only the weekend ". The draft drafts remove the facility, so the whole value of the car would be subject to taxes. On this part of income, therefore, taxation would triple. And those interested would be all those who have the machine available for exclusive use, excluding the vehicles in the 'pool', for which they have the most dependent keys, and the commercial agents, whose work is inseparable from the four wheels.

The fiscal tightening would thus be felt on 80% of the total company car fleet, again according to Aniasa, the branch of Confindustria active in the rental. One measure, the association complains, "that definitively ditches the car market and hits about 2 million workers on its payroll", the number of vehicles involved. "The Government that, in words with the Table on the Car, declares it wants to support the four-wheel chain, is determining its collapse", is the accusation of the association. As for the spread, according to Aniasa «company cars are now widespread, present in over 90% of large companies but also in many small and medium-sized companies. There is not a product sector that pulls more. And it is not true – he underlines – that these are always high segments: in quantitative terms, models like Panda and 500L dominate, obviously then the company fleets cover substantial quotas also in the high segment ». The charterers then point out that in the sector the replacement is fast, so these are cars that would have lower emissions and higher safety standards.
