The Guelmim-Oued Noun region council, chaired by former secretary of state Mbarka Bouaida (RNI), has decided to renew its car fleet for more than 6 million dirhams. A decision that sparked a huge uproar. The details.
At the ordinary session, held Monday, October 7, the council voted a decision allowing him to acquire (for members of the office) vehicles for a global budget of 6.3 million dirhams. A decision that sparked an uproar among members of the council (opposition), but also among the people who considered excessive such expenses for a region with more urgent needs.
Initially, say our sources, the budget allocated to the acquisition of vehicles was set at 2, then 4 and finally at 6.3 million dirhams.
Recall that the overall budget of this region for 2020 was voted by 29 votes for and 6 abstentions.
The region of Guelmim-Oued Noun has experienced more than a year of deadlock because of disputes between former President Abderrahim Bouaida (also RNI) and the opposition led by Abdelouahhab Belfqih (USFP). The Ministry of the Interior intervened, to take matters into its own hands, suspending the council and appointing a commission, chaired by the wali of the region, to manage the day-to-day business.
