After nine years of loyal service, the Juke's first generation is taking a well-deserved retirement. More than a million and a half copies have been sold! With such a score, we say that renewal is not an easy task, especially since the Juke played the card offbeat style.
Replacing a model with a very distinctive look is perilous. The challenge was hand-picked by Nissan. The designers were not cautious, not content with a timid evolution: impossible to confuse the old and the new, as it may be the case with the new Clio! But we find the spirit of the Juke, with for example the large round optics in the shield. The Juke enhances its athletic appearance and takes on the air of a SUV cut with a sloping floating roof.
There is also an important evolution inside. To accompany the desire to move upmarket, Nissan had to heal the presentation and finish. It's done. As on the old Juke, the dashboard puts on the curves. Round aerators bring a sporty touch. Too bad, the effect "tank motorcycle" at the shifter is blunted.
Nissan is aware, the renewal of the Juke has delayed. The sales curve had plunged in recent years. The reason is technical: the brand waited for the arrival of the new CMF-B base. The Juke is at the forefront technically, which allows him to adopt all the latest driving aids. It can thus receive the semi-autonomous Pro Pilot. Engine side, for now, there is only one block, the 1.0 gasoline 117 hp.
A very strong competition
Of course, the Juke was not the first pocket 4×4. But this is the first to have played the crossover map on the urban models segment. During his career, he saw a flock of rivals arrive.
While the first generation has been quiet for some time, the second has to face a large number of competitors, especially with 8 centimeters longer, or 4.21 meters, it is closer to compact vehicles. In front of Juke 2, we can find:
