
The eleven nominees are (in alphabetical order), the Americans Donovan Brazier, world chamion 800m, Christian Coleman, 100m world champion and relay 4X100m in Doha, the Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei, gold in Doha over 10,000m and cross-country world champion in Aarhus this year, Kenyan Timothy Cheruyiot, the fastest in Qatar on 1,500m, the Bahamian Steven Gardiner, crowned 400m world champion, the American Sam Kendricks, the world champion at the pole, Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, winner of the London Marathon and the first man to pass under the mark of two hours in the marathon Saturday in Vienna by covering the 42.195km in 1h59.40, a record not homologated, the new star of the US sprint Noah Lyles, world champion on 200m and with relay 4X100m, the Swede Daniel Stahl, sacred to the record at the Worlds, the American Christian Taylor, the master of the triple jump and the Norwegian Karsten Warholm, in gold over 400m hurdles at the world championships and unbeaten on the distance this year.
Three 'juries' can cast their vote. The IAAF committee (for 50% of the votes), the IAAF family members (for 25%) and the public (for 25%). The votes will be closed by November 4th and the last five finalists will be known.
