Of scams, the Italians have their pockets full. Almost every day, for one reason or another, users they risk being victims of deceit, sometimes even well thought out to deprive them of money or credit.
Over the years, we have deepened the theme of scams against users. We have identified many different types, some of them evergreen, others instead came out thanks to the advent of new technologies. To this last category undoubtedly belongs the SIM cloning scam, invented in 2015 and returned to the fore during this summer paradoxically due to the definitive entry into force of some more stringent security measures on current accounts.
There are also phishing via email, smishing via SMS, scams on signing of contracts that never existed and i illegal scams on bills. But in recent months, a new threat risks tormenting users, directly involving them via a call on the personal phone number.
Fake broker scams: attention to online trading
Lately some customers are reporting calls, coming in on their smartphone, from self-proclaimed companies that promise big profits with very little effort.
The habit of investing in the stock market, even for smaller amounts, has also spread widely among the small savers. Thanks to online trading, many people use a share of their capital to see it grow over time thanks to accrued interest and stock market fluctuations.
But be careful not to fall into the trap of these call center operators that exploit the poor user convenience in this area, and convince them to allocate their savings to a fund that turns out to be phoney. In addition to not getting anything, users end up in fact not to review even the money invested.
It is therefore always preferable to have experts to guide the customer in this area, which hides numerous pitfalls especially for the less experienced.
