"Yesterday we had our best day since the start of the grassroots fundraising campaign," wrote the training in an email sent via a distribution list today.
The former US president invited himself into the election campaign by posting a tweet in support of Justin Trudeau. He urged Canadians to give the outgoing prime minister "working" and "effective" a second term.
This tweet, which has so far been shared more than 300,000 times, raised eyebrows. But according to Elections Canada, it does not contravene the Elections Act and does not constitute foreign interference in the Canadian democratic process.
Liberal leader Justin Trudeau today refused to say whether he or his team had asked the former tenant of the White House. He merely said that Barack Obama was able to "make his own idea".
It was not possible to know how much the Liberal Party raised.
