The administration of Donald Trump announced Thursday a drastic reduction in the quota of refugees hosted in the United States as part of their resettlement policy, to 18,000 in 2020 against 30,000 this year and nearly 85,000 in 2016.

"The current burden on the US immigration system needs to be eased before the United States can resettle a large number of refugees again," the US State Department said to explain the new record low. This quota must now be discussed with Congress before being, except a huge surprise, confirmed by President Trump.
