"A turning point that will mark history forever"said Stephan Winkelmann, chairman of the group that had set the goal of being the first manufacturer to exceed the mythical threshold of 300 mph. The feat was made by Bugatti test driver, the British Andy Wallace, winner of Le Mans in 1988.
To establish this world record, a team of engineers from various fields of expertise and under the direction of Bugatti Development Director Stefan Ellrott, prepared a car close to a new series model derived from Chiron. In addition to aerodynamic changes on the front, back and sides, the specialists have attached great importance to safety. To do this, the Bugatti team was assisted by the Italian specialist in Dallara racing cars, as well as by Michelin tire manufacturer.
After having regularly exceeded the previous records, it was for Bugatti, the last record test, what Stephan Winkelman pointed out. "We have proven time and again that we are building the fastest cars in the world, and in the future we will focus on other areas."
