The American association Sandy Hook Promise, which fights since 2012 against the multiplication of shootings in the schools, hit hard for the return by diffusing a fake advertising spot with the satirical accent.
The video, based on the codes used by commercial brands to sell a product for schoolchildren or college students, plays on a squeaky shift to mark the spirits. It begins as if nothing had happened, with several teenagers looking forward to their new backpack, their organizers that keep them organized or a headset "perfect for studying".
Then the atmosphere of "advertising" takes a more disturbing turn. "These new sneakers are just what I need for the new year," blows a boy running down the halls of his college, as gunshots sound. A girl then uses her jacket to barricade the door of a gym, while a teenager uses his new skateboard to break the windows of a class and run away. All while the shouts of other students and gunfire continue.
400 people killed since 2012
While students are ready to use their scissors and pencils as weapons if the shooter enters the room, a girl uses her socks to make a tourniquet to a friend, who was shot in the leg. "They can really save their lives," she says.
The tension reaches its maximum when a girl, taken refuge in the toilet, is writing by SMS: "I love you mom". "I finally had my own laptop to stay in touch with my mother," she smiles, before starting to cry, as the shooter's footsteps get closer to her.
This campaign aims to denounce the many killings that have occurred in recent years in high schools, high schools or campuses in the United States. According to the New York Times, more than 400 people have died since 2012 and the shooting of Sandy Hook (27 people, including 20 children, had been shot in a primary school by a man of 20. This event led to the birth of the association at the origin of the video).
