HEALTH – For the first time, a US state, Massachusetts, has decided a total and temporary ban on the sale of electronic cigarettes. The city of San Francisco made a similar decision in July. In the United States, 530 cases of pulmonary diseases, including 7 deaths, have been identified.
The governor wished the suspension "so that we can work with our medical experts to identify what makes people sick and how to better regulate these products to protect the health of our citizens," said a statement.

530 cases of pulmonary pathologies
This new decision was made while the United States is facing a wave of lung diseases contracted by people who use electronic cigarettes. So far, 530 confirmed or probable cases have been reported by the health authorities, which report 7 deaths, according to the latest report of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC reiterates that suspicions include liquids containing THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, CBD (another cannabinoid), or other substances and additives.
In Massachusetts, three confirmed cases and two probable ones have been reported, but those of about fifty others are being analyzed. The Food and Drug Control Agency is currently investigating suspect samples, but it has not yet been able to identify which substances could be the cause of these pathologies.
On September 11, Donald Trump announced that similar measures would be taken at the federal level.
