WASHINGTON (Reuters) – General Motors has launched a recall of 3.46 million pickups and SUVs in the United States for a vacuum pump problem that may make braking more difficult.
The recall covers models from 2014 to 2018 and includes the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Tahoe, Sierra GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon, said the US manufacturer in documents released Wednesday.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the US Highway Safety Authority, opened a preliminary investigation into this problem in November 2018 and reported nine accidents and two injuries related to the vacuum pump. , which is part of the braking system.
GM stated that this problem could affect braking only in "rare circumstances".
The US group also announced Wednesday the recall of 270,000 vehicles sold in the United States due to a bug in the engine control module software that could result in the deactivation of fuel injectors.
He has also recalled 91,000 Chevrolet Express 2019 and GMC Savana vehicles due to a problem with the warning light when the seat belt is detached.
