Tesla patented a new electromagnetic windshield wiper system. It is a technology that basically stands out for clean the entire windshield wiper and not just one area, as with the systems that equip cars today.

The Tesla system would be under the hood while not in use. Its objective is to improve the visibility of drivers and also to clean the area in which the cameras will be located for autonomous driving technology.

Tesla's patent says:

"In certain scenarios, a driver or cameras in the vehicle (for example, in the case of assisted and autonomous driving) require an unobstructed field of vision from the front of the interior of a vehicle. The conventional windshield wiper systems that use multiple windshield wiper blades generally have a crowded design and do not clear enough the windshield, which can hamper the road's field of vision. "

The movement of the wiper that Tesla patented is linear, from left to right.

The Californian automaker argues that using a mechanical system increases the wear of the parts and the fuel consumption, thus reducing autonomy. That is why he turned to electromagnetic technology, which allows a linear movement of the wiper from left to right.

It is composed of a rigid arm and an articulation at its base that is used only to store it under the hood. The sliding is achieved through an electromagnetic block on rails. Will it finally reach mass production?
