Huobi University, the research and education wing of the Huobi cryptocurrency exchange, announced its collaboration with the University of Gibraltar in several blockchain initiatives.
On September 5, Houbi Group, the parent company of Huobi University and the Huobi exchange, announced what the company describes as its "first formal collaboration with a western university."
As Cointelegraph reported in October 2018, the Government of Gibraltar, in collaboration with the University of Gibraltar, has created an advisory group focused on the development of educational courses related to block chains.

According to the statement, the Minister of Commerce of Gibraltar, Albert Isola, signed a memorandum of understanding on behalf of the university, formally launching the collaboration. The President of Huobi University, Jianing Yu, who also signed the document, commented on the development:
"We are very excited about the prospect of future collaborations between the University of Huobi and the University of Gibraltar, particularly as a means to accelerate the establishment of high-quality educational initiatives focused on the blockchain. (…) Both parties share the ambition to promote high-level academic research around the burgeoning landscape of DLT, and I hope this vision takes shape. "

Yu also explained that he looks forward to the initiative that will result in the mutual distribution of the progress of the blockchain between China and the West. The press release also states that such collaborations could include various academic programs, research projects and short courses.
Examples of issues cited by Yu include distributed business models, investment of digital assets and wealth management, blockchain interface with 5G and Internet of Things, and blockchain application in different fields. Finally, the company notes that in the future it plans to launch a series of English courses for entrepreneurs and investors around the world.
