Should I accept everyone on social networks? Thalía Rojas, a Career Partners consultant, talked with Gestion.pe about how to take care of the personal brand in times of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
“If you see that your new coworkers are adding you to social networks, the first thing you have to evaluate is your comfort. Ask yourself and be honest with yourself: Do I really feel comfortable with this? Am I careful with what I project on social networks? ”Said Thalía Rojas.
After answering the questions raised by the Career Partners specialist, Rojas explained that one should also be careful to block certain people from some publications because in the long run everything is known.
“If we accept our bosses or colleagues in social networks, we must avoid creating posts that generate controversy. Do not talk about politics, religion, football, among others. ”Said Rojas de Career Partners.
LINKEDIN, A DIFFERENT CASE
Although, in social networks like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, it is not advisable to accept or send requests to your bosses or co-workers until you feel comfortable. On LinkedIn the position changes.
“LinkedIn is a work network, where you should add as many as you can and even more if they are people from the company you are in,” said Thalía Rojas.
In the same way, he recommended being careful with what is posted on this network. "Always remember that on LinkedIn you are not only to look for work, but to create a personal brand."
RECRUITORS AND SOCIAL NETWORKS: A SECRET NOT SPEAKED
It is not new to know that recruiters review the social networks of applicants during a selection process. Given this, Thalía Rojas, said that inappropriate photos, bad comments from the current or previous company, can take him out of the race.
"Human resources is always in social networks recruiting, hiring or seeing what their employees do, we always remember that we are the image of the company in which we are and were," he added.
In case of having the social networks in private it would not give any bad signal, Thalía Rojas said that on the contrary, it would show that you keep a lot of your privacy.
