The Paris Bourse closed down (-0.79%) Wednesday, shaken by the political turmoil in the United States that come on top of many fears of concern, starting with that of an economic slowdown.
The CAC 40 index lost 44.53 points to 5,583.80 points, in an average trade volume of 3.4 billion euros. The day before, the Paris rating had stabilized (-0.04%) after a difficult start to the week.
The stock market opened in the red and dug its losses over the session, before reducing a little just before closing.
"The market is reacting today to bad news from the United States" with the launch of a dismissal procedure against Donald Trump, said to AFP Daniel Larrouturou, equity manager at Dôm Finance.
The big maneuvers began Wednesday overseas, the day after the explosive decision of the Democrats to launch a process of dismissal of the president with the heart of the battle, the transcript of a conversation between the US president and his Ukrainian counterpart.
"The political complications around Donald Trump make the markets fear a deleterious climate for the world economy, whose slowdown is confirmed statistics after statistics," added Mr. Larrouturou.
"There are also many sources of concern," he continued, "with tensions in Hong Kong, the Middle East, or Britain, and no commercial breakthroughs."
"All this translates into a movement of risk aversion with a decline in stock market indices, commodity prices and conversely a bond market that serves as a refuge," according to the expert.
Between the increased economic pressure by the United States on Iran or the new Sino-US arms deal on Hong Kong and trade, investors did not find comfort Wednesday.
Serenity has not been there either in the United Kingdom where the deputies resumed their work in an overheated atmosphere after the historic judgment of the Supreme Court which annulled the controversial decision of the Prime Minister Boris Johnson to suspend Parliament in the run up to Brexit.
