A few hours after the knife attack in Villeurbanne, the profile of the suspect is emerging gradually. The man, obviously confused, declined several identities to the investigators, who finally found that the latter was a asylum seeker aged 33 and of Afghan nationality. He was unknown to the police and intelligence services.
According to a witness questioned by LCI, the suspect, "disturbed, almost in a state of trance", would have repeated several times the word "drug". The latter would attend a neighborhood bordering Villeurbanne and Vaulx-en-Velin, reports a witness to the Parisian who would have crossed "once or twice in the bus".
The terrorist track is not favored at this stage of the investigation.
