When it comes to electrification, Kia is a good student. From simple hybrid to 100% electric, it is able to meet all expectations. In the first half of 2019, electrified vehicles accounted for one out of every seven Korean sales in Europe. And this share should progress with the expansion of its green offer. In early 2020, the brand will market a rechargeable hybrid variant of Ceed SW and XCeed.
In the bowels, there is a 1.6 gasoline coupled to an electric block. Together they develop a maximum of 141 hp and 265 Nm of torque. Modest values on the market of the rechargeable hybrid, which give reasonable performance, with a 0 to 100 km / h achieved in 10.8 seconds for the break and 11 seconds for the crossover. The gearbox is a 6-speed dual clutch.
These models are equipped with a lithium polymer battery of 8.9 kWh. Kia aims for a 100% electric autonomy of almost 60 km, which is more than enough for everyday travel. Energy recovery when you release the accelerator pedal will save miles of autonomy. The brand does not yet have the values of consumptions and emissions approved.
The battery is housed next to the fuel tank, whose capacity is reduced to 37 liters. Big problem: the trunk volumes have melted. The XCeed announces more than 297 liters, instead of 426 liters on the normal version. For the break, it must be content with 437 liters, which is a little on a break! The modality is however preserved with a bench 40/20/40.
Side look, nothing special to say. The estate adopts the body kit of the GT Line. Both models have a closed grille to improve the aero. The hatch for charging is hidden in front of the driver's door. On board, you will have to dig into the options to have the digital instrumentation (12.3-inch screen) and the 10.25-inch central touch screen. The navigation system integrates the search for charging point.
