Several rumors have circulated that the contract of former Montreal Canadiens striker Nikita Scherbak is being bought by his current team, the Avangard of Omsk, in the KHL. However, it would not be the plans of the organization.

At least, for the moment.

This is what the journalist TVA Sports channel Renaud Lavoie learned on Sunday.

The Avangard season begins today with a duel against CSKA Moscow in the Russian capital and Scherbak takes part in the duel.

The day before, sports.ru reported that the team's head coach, Bob Hartley, did not like what he had seen from the former CH.

The 23-year-old had signed a three-year, $ 1.2-million deal per season last June.

Scherbak is in his third organization in less than a year, he who began the campaign with the Habs 2018-2019 before being claimed by the Los Angeles Kings.
