If we have several electronic devices at home it is likely that we have done with a collection of cables and chargers more than important. Given that almost all chargers use a USB-A port, that means we can connect any cable with USB-C or microUSB termination and most likely we can charge the phone without problems. All this regardless of whether or not we are using the same cable and charger that the phone brings as standard. Now is it dangerous? Can you damage the battery use another mobile charger?
The first thing we have to say is that using the cable or the power charger of another device will not spoil our smartphone. Although yes, depending on the quality of them, we may have occasional problems.
We will lose the warranty
Generally mobile manufacturers recommend always using the charger that comes standard In the phone case. That is why if we have a problem with the battery and say that we have used another charger, it is most likely that in 99% of the cases the warranty does not cover the repair. It is something that makes a lot of sense, since all the terminals were designed to work with their own specific charger, and if we plug another unknown charging accessory, however compatible, it will always be “a strange component” within the system original.
The mobile will charge more slowly
If we go a little more in detail, we will also see, that all mobile chargers work in the same way. They transform the alternating energy of the mains into direct current, reducing the voltage to appropriate values to charge the phone.
Standard mobile chargers usually have a minimum load of 5V and 2A (10W). In addition, they also usually include other faster charging modes, to complete the recharge process in the most efficient way possible. Usually, there is usually a low, intermediate and fast charging mode.
Thus, the mobile uses the fastest charging values at the beginning, to get more mAh as quickly as possible. From 75% of the refueling, it passes at an intermediate charge speed so as not to force the battery, being from 90% the moment in which it slows down more slowly.
That said, when we use a charger that is not the one that came standard with the phone, what the mobile does is use minimum load values so as not to damage the battery. Which for practical purposes is not dangerous, but it significantly slows down the loading time.
The key is in the processor (of the mobile)
In the end, the one who gives the orders and decide the charging speed is the mobile processor. Therefore, it will not help us to use a charger with fast charge if our phone is not enabled for it.
But don't worry, there's no danger that we break a cell phone by using a charger with Quick charge, since in such cases, the processor only asks for the minimum load to be sent (as we have seen in the previous point).
Beware of poor quality cables and chargers
But what happens if the charger sends too much power or too little? In these cases the processor simply stops the loading process. When there is not a good energy balance, most likely the mobile simply does not charge and that's it.
But be careful, because if we have a low-cost trinket cable or charger, this can overheat, burn or release a spark, and that is already more dangerous. Therefore, in this sense it is always more advisable to buy a quality charger (and if possible from a known brand): they can be a little more expensive, but in the long run they are much more profitable.
