According to data from the Energy Mining Planning Unit (Upme), at the end of the deadline for interested parties to register, 27 generating companies arrived, a group of which have 56 new projects, and 26 marketing companies.
To this process, which is parallel to the auction of the charge for reliability and that in theory will give downward price signals for the entire market, not only recognized agents such as Enel Green Power and Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), other international, arrived .
According to Alejandro Lucio, director of the firm Óptima Consultores, among the 27 registered generators, for example, the French energy company of France (EDF), the main generation and distribution firm of that country, as well as the Acciona company, controlled by investors Spanish, with a presence in 65 countries and that promotes and manages infrastructure and renewable energy.
Another player, who is already in Colombia, is the American firm AES, which already operates in the market with the AES Chivor plant, but which recently bought Jemeiwaa Ka’i from the renewable energy issue.

Also the Casino Group, of France, owner of the majority shareholding of the Éxito Group, was presented through the Green Yellow firm to the process advanced by the Upme, to which the Canadian Solar Energy SAS firm, a subsidiary of the Canadian multinational of the same name and which is the second largest manufacturer of solar panels in the world, was also running.
On the local side, the investment matrix Celsia also appears, through the Pacific Energy Company, a company that has a strong commitment to the implementation of non-conventional renewable technologies, mainly photovoltaic solar.
Even the company Termotasajero, producer of energy through coal, signed up for this renewable energy contracting auction because it decided to enter this business line as part of its projects.
The Isagén generator, controlled by the Canadian Brookfield fund, with the Guajira 1 project, with 20 megawatts of capacity, also confirmed the process, as confirmed by the company's president, Camilo Marulanda.
According to the schedule of the Upme, once the documents are reviewed and the guarantees of seriousness of the offer are delivered, to date, the date scheduled for the award of the auctions is October 22.
