Ivorian justice has launched an investigation after the opening by fans of the coffin of the Ivorian singer DJ Arafat shortly after his burial and a dozen people were arrested, said the authorities.
"An investigation has been opened and will be made public," told AFP on Monday, the prosecutor Richard Adou.
For its part, the prefect of Abidjan reported "twelve people arrested" in this case that shocked the Ivorians, according to a statement in the press.
On a video broadcast on social networks, we can see a crowd of agitated young people opening the grave and coffin of DJ Arafat and taking a picture of his body.
"We wanted to see the body of our idol before the closure of the tomb," said a fan to an AFP journalist near the cemetery.
"It's Yoro, it's him! Another fan had shouted, referring to DJ Arafat's nickname "Yorobo".
Police intervened to disperse the crowd, firing tear gas. Several people were injured, according to testimonies collected by AFP.
Previously, clashes broke out around the Williamsville Cemetery between the police and fans who were unhappy with being kept away from the burial that took place in the family's privacy.
The exceptional tribute ceremony for the coupe-shifted king had gone off uneventfully all night at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium in Abidjan, the largest in Côte d'Ivoire.
DJ Arafat died on August 12 from a motorcycle accident in Abidjan. He was one of the most popular artists of Ivory Coast and West Africa.
