Visit an inmate in prison and be able to talk to him only through a screen? In the United States, this situation tends to become widespread. The meetings in the parlors are sometimes relegated to oblivion, to the chagrin of families.
At the base, the idea was commendable. The introduction of video communication systems allows people who are unable to move, for reasons of health, cost or geography, to maintain contact with incarcerated relatives. But since then, more and more American prisons have decided to impose it in situ and to replace the traditional visits which allowed the best to take a close in the arms, at worst to see it behind a pane.
