He solved a court case opened 22 years ago by surfing Google Maps. A man has helped locate the body of a man who has been missing since 1997 after spotting his car in a pond on Google Maps.
As reported by the BBC, William Moldt was missing since November 7, 1997. The man, aged 40, had not given any sign of life after spending the evening in a bar. Around 9:30 pm, he had warned his girlfriend that he would be home soon. But after that, no more news. The police had opened an investigation but, for lack of evidence, it had been closed.
The latter finally experienced an unexpected rebound on August 28th. While navigating on Google Maps, a resident of Moon Bay Circle (Indiana) believes he sees a car in a pond. After using his drone, his doubts are confirmed and he decides to warn the police, says the BBC. He tells him about his strange find.
An identification was made
The authorities go there and discover the vehicle. This one is extracted from the lake. Inside, human remains are discovered. A week later, an identification is made. These are remains belonging to William Moldt. According to the information reported by the investigators, the victim lost control of his vehicle and ended up in the pond. With a 22-year-old affair, conclusions are difficult to make. The family was able to be notified that William's body had finally been found.
