Detroit –

General Motors has hired Google to handle the key components of its infodiversion system on the board, recognizing that the technology company can be more efficient in that than the automaker.

According to GM, research reveals that customers want the technology incorporated into their vehicle and that it works in the manner of their cell phones.

The company said that Google It will incorporate your voice assistant to vehicles worldwide, as well as navigation and internal vehicle handling applications. The planned year of release will be 2021.

Google’s system will exceed GM’s previous attempts, the company said. Drivers may use Google Assistant to make calls, send texts and even set the interior temperature of the vehicle.

"I have no doubt that we will get a better experience," said Santiago Chamorro, vice president in charge of customer connections with the car. Google Assistant's language skills are constantly improving, which will facilitate people's dialogue with their cars, he said.

After several attempts of relative success to develop their own systems, automakers have sought ways to integrate telephones into infodiversion systems. Most cars can project cell phones on their screens with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

GM refused to disclose the terms of the contract with Google. (I)
