Within the framework of the Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi presented the AI: TRAIL quattro Concept. It is a prototype that indicates what the German firm will be for the future of your off-road vehicles. It has an electric motor and autonomous driving technology level 4 (the highest is 5).

The most curious: instead of conventional lights, it carries drones that illuminate. These fly in front of the vehicle and also record what is happening around. The driver can see those images at the same time through an interior screen.

It has four electric motors, which in total deliver 408 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of maximum torque. The autonomy ranges from 400 to 450 kilometers, depending on the use. The traction is 4×4: there is a motor for each wheel.

It does not have many interior screens because, as it is intended for off-road, the German firm intends that the occupants "pay attention to the landscape". It presents glazed surfaces to facilitate visibility. The back doors have "suicidal" opening.

It measures 4.4 meters long and 2.15 wide, with a ground clearance of 34 cm which allows you to wade water more than half a meter deep. It weighs just 1,750 kg because it is made of steel and carbon fiber. In addition, it has 22-inch wheels.
