Ford beats world record: 1326 Mustang together in an unmissable parade

Units of each generation of Mustang since the launch of the iconic sports car in 1964, gathered at the Ford Lommel test circuit on September 7 to help set a new world record: the largest number of Mustangs in a parade.

Ford broke its own record of 960 vehicles, set in Toluca; Mexico, on December 3, 2017, with 1,326 Mustangs from all over Europe gathered at Ford's testing facilities in Belgium. To set the new record, the Mustangs circulated in a convoy uninterrupted with no more than 20 meters between each car. Vehicles and drivers also participated in a special choreography to celebrate Mustang's 55th anniversary this year.

More Mustangs per capita are sold in Belgium than in any other country in Europe, which makes Ford's Lommel test circuit the ideal place for the world record attempt. The Mustang was the world's best-selling sports coupe for the fourth consecutive year in 2018. Sales continued to increase in the first half of 2019, in which 5,500 units were sold in Europe, 3.7 percent more than in the same period of the year. previous.

Lommel test circuit

The Ford Lommel test circuit is where the company improves the sustainability, technology and driving dynamics of its vehicles in Europe. The facilities cover an area of ​​3.22 km² and have 80 kilometers of roads. Some are designed to simulate various public roads, while others have different surfaces that allow engineers to assess the maneuverability, braking, driving and comfort of vehicles.

More than 100 facility staff members volunteered to help the attempt to beat Ford's world record run smoothly.
