The Japanese Naomi OsakaThe defending champion was eliminated in the round of 16 of the US Open, the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year, Monday in New York. World No. 1 lost 7-5, 6-4 to Swiss Belinda Bencic (WTA 12) on the cement of Court Arthur Ashe. The meeting lasted 1 hour and 26 minutes.

Naomi Osaka also loses its place of world No.1. She will be replaced Monday at the top of the hierarchy of the WTA by the Australian Ashleigh Barty, laureate at Roland Garros and current N.2, also eliminated in the round of 16.
